Coopereatingapple-2The Copper Pot Food Company was established by Washington, DC based Italian chef, Stefano Frigerio.  In 2008, for the first time in 20 years, Stefano found himself sitting on the couch. After a celebrated career cooking in some of the finest kitchens in Italy, London and the United States, Stefano had made the difficult decision to take a break from the grueling kitchen schedule to spend some time with his young children.  During his time at home, Stefano found himself bored out of his mind and to fill the void, reverted back to his passion for the kitchen and began canning jams from fruit purchased from visits to the farms of local farmers whom had supplied his restaurants. Each season brought a new harvest, and Stefano’s collection of jams, tomato sauces and vinegars grew larger and larger. Before long, Stefano had stockpiled over 500 jars of jams and sauces and had taken over the children’s’ playroom with boxes of jars.

As the family began to get perturbed about the loss of space due to the ever growing mass of jars, Stefano set-up a stand at a local year-round farmers market where the jams and sauces began to sell faster than Stefano could create them. Stefano bought some bigger pots and enlisted help with picking produce from his family and thus, The Copper Pot Food Company was born.

The foods from The Copper Pot Food Company serve as a reflection of the rich harvest in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States melded with Stefano Frigerio’s Italian heritage. We have a deep passion for food and it is our goal to provide unique foods created with respectfully cultivated products with such rich-intense flavor that they will not be forgotten.
